The story of Domaine Carneros begins with a quest. In the late 1970s, Claude Taittinger sought out the perfect spot in California to grow and produce world-class sparkling wine—comparable to his family’s famous Champagne. His pursuit landed him on a hilltop in the heart of Carneros, and he fell in love. The Taittinger family purchased a spectacular 128-acre parcel, hiring Eileen Crane in 1987 to oversee the construction of the majestic Château and craft “the finest sparkling wine” in California.

Situated atop a knoll surrounded by estate vineyards, the château brings to Carneros the elegant style of the French wine country. With its grand staircase, beautiful formal gardens, expansive outdoor terraces, marble-floored fireside salon and breathtaking views of vine-covered hills, it is an incomparably royal setting for savoring fine sparkling and still wines.

The Art of Sparkling Wine Pairing: Bubbles & Bites
Experience the versatility of Sparkling wine in this Food & Wine Pairing specially curated to highlight the flavors of Asia. This experience will include four savory and one sweet Asian-themed bites paired with four of our Sparkling wines—Ultra Brut, Estate Brut, Brut Rose, and Vermeil Demi-Sec. Led by our most seasoned wine educators, this experience will open your eyes to a new side of Sparkling wine. Available daily by appointment, $90/pp.

Just a couple of miles north of the Château, the Artesa winery is perched on a scenic hilltop, offering 360-degree views spanning from Napa Valley to San Francisco.

In 1991, Spain’s oldest winemaking family, Raventós Codorníu, ventured to a new world: a sea-facing hillside in the Napa Valley, with rocky soils and a favorable coastal climate. It was here in Los Carneros, that the family planted new roots, building upon a 500-year winemaking legacy to create the next generation of Estate Grown, artisan wines. It was named Artesa - Catalan for “handcrafted”.

Artesa creates their wines one small lot at a time, harvesting, fermenting and aging each lot separately, tailoring artisan practices to allow each parcel to express its individual character. Then they patiently and meticulously compose the final blends to achieve wines that are both elegant, intense, and unmistakably true to their roots. To enjoy their wines, Artesa offers an array of tasting options, food and wine pairings and private experiences.

Heritage Flight with Tapas

Enjoy a seated tasting of a flight of six of their most iconic wines, each paired with a small Spanish plate known as tapas. These small bites are specifically designed to enjoy with their wines to enhance their aromas and flavors. This experience is for groups of up to 6 guests for $60/pp.
